Whether your Webflow site is finished, or simply in preparation, if you want (or need) to know the possibilities you have in terms of adding functionality, and the costs involved, you've come to the right place!
Here we will detail the most common plugins we integrate into showcase sites, with the features added by each, the free alternatives offered by default with Webflow, and the costs to be expected π
Please note that it is important to check with your Webflow expert before drawing up the initial development quote, as certain integrations can change the development time.
The basis: the Webflow Site subscription
When it comes to pricing your project, the first question to ask is: which Webflow subscription is right for me?
There are two main subscription families on Webflow:
- Site subscriptions
- Account subscriptions (workspace)
If you just want to build your site on Webflow, you won't need a Workspace subscription.
It's a mistake I often see, to take the subscription on both when it's not necessary.
Workspace subscriptions are more suited to development agencies, who will be handling a large number of sites at the same time, than to companies who will simply have one or more sites for their personal use.
β
Here are the details of subscriptions on the sites:
Starter: $0
This is a free subscription, which is best used if you want to test Webflow, or during the development of your new site, so you can get a real online preview of what it will look like.
You won't be able to upload to the domain of your choice, and your site will remain on .webflow.io (for example: codelius.webflow.io).
So this is not a real option for production sites.
β
Basic: from $14/month
If you want to put your site into production on your own domain, you'll have no choice but to pay the mandatory price.
This includes infrastructure updates and maintenance of your site hosting (not the site code itself) by Webflow, as well as file hosting for your site.
β
CMS: from $23/month
Here we find the first new feature: the CMS.
The CMS is Webflow's database. It allows you to create new pages, based on a common template, by filling out a simple form with specific information.
The CMS is ideal for blogs, case studies, projects and even services.
β
How do I know if I need a CMS?
The first question is: will all my pages have the same structure?
If so, then CMS may be a good option.
If not, you won't be able to use it in any case, so there's no point in considering this option in any case.
However, be sure to ask your Webflow developer for his opinion, because with the latest Webflow updates and a little custom code, the template pages can be different enough that your users won't notice the difference on their end, while still allowing you to take advantage of the simplicity of adding content offered by the CMS β¨
β
The second question to ask yourself is: will I be adding new content on a regular basis?Β
If the answer is yes, then you need to ask yourself whether you want it to be very quick or not.
If you don't want adding new content to be time-consuming, then I'd advise you to opt for the CMS. If not, perhaps this is an opportunity to save a little money π
β
Business: from $39/month
It offers a few additional features compared to the CMS, such as a form field for adding files.
The rest are just changes to the quotas of the other plans (more bandwidth, more visitors, more CMS elements, etc).
If you're wondering whether you need it or not, it's probably because the CMS plan is currently sufficient for you. In any case, when the time comes, you'll be able to upgrade to this subscription, paying only the difference in price π I'd really advise you not to bother, and to take the CMS plan.
When in doubt, it is also always a good idea to ask your Webflow developer, who may have more in mind advantages, disadvantages and needs of your site, and will be able to guide you in your choice π
β
Add Ecommerce options: from +$15/month
If you want to sell services or merchandise online, you'll need to take out a special, slightly more expensive subscription.
Once again, I advise you to turn to your Webflow expert to check that Webflow's options cover your needs, particularly in terms of delivery, which is very poorly integrated (for the moment) with European services.
I'm not going to detail the subscriptions exactly, but they range from $29/month to $235/month, depending on your needs, and you'll need to factor in potential transaction fees in the cheapest subscriptions.
In the case of ecommerce on Webflow, it may be worth considering integrations with Shopify π We'll go into more detail in a future article π
Note that if you wish to sell subscriptions and access to your site, it may be worth considering the integration of Memberstack, detailed below π
β
Integrations with social networks
If you want your feed :
- Youtube
- ...
Or your opinion :
- Tripadvisor
- ...
... are automatically added to your site, without you having to do a thing. You'll need to pay between $5 and $20/month more, with third-party integrations.
Note that the latter can be cumulated between several sites, if you have more than one π
I'm basing myself here on the Elfsight solution, which is the most advanced, and offers a good features/price ratio, including good appearance customization options.
Free alternative solution
The free solution isn't automated: it's a matter of creating a CMS (which we mentioned earlier, the Webflow database) dedicated to posts from your networks, and every time you post new content, you'll simply add it to your site too, and in 5 mins, both will be up to date π
β
Advanced filtering solutions
Webflow lets you filter pages pre-filtered with its Basic subscription. If you have the CMS, the generation of these pages can even be automated π
The disadvantage is that :
- You can only have one active filter per page
- That the page will reload every time you change the filter
At Codelius, we've developed an advanced filter plugin to go beyond these limits, even adding options such as :
- Pagination
- The infinite load
- Pre-filtered urls (with one or more filters)
- Choice of logical operators ("filter 1 and filter 2", or "filter 1 or filter 2")
- Display the number of results for each filter
- Hide filters with no results
- And much more π

This plugin is available for a one-time payment of 180β¬ HT (for one domain) β¨
Translation and localization
Weglot: The historic solution
For a long time the only option for translating your site, Weglot integrates perfectly with Webflow, allowing you to build the button to change language as freely as you like, so you can keep your visual identity.
It allows you to use either the sub-domain solution (en.codelius.fr for the English version and es.codelius.fr for the Spanish version, for example) or the sub-folder solution (codelis.fr/en and codelius.fr/es).
It also offers a "default" automatic translation in the language, allowing you in just a few clicks to have a site in another language without having to write your own texts β¨ You can of course integrate your own texts afterwards.
You can also integrate language alternatives for your files (images, for example), or other media and links - not to be overlooked for the user experience! Similarly, you can hide or display page elements (a discount, for example, or a specific form) according to the language chosen by your user.
Depending on the number of languages required and the number of words on your site, the price may vary. A β¬15/month subscription is most often required.
β
The Webflow solution
At the end of 2023, Webflow released its own translation option at $9/month/language.
The offer is broadly the same as that of Weglot presented above, and has the advantage of being directly and completely integrated into Webflow, offering centralized management.
Customization of the appearance is also included, as is a semi-automatic translation proposal, which requires you to manually click on a button to translate a field in your CMS, or a text.
The small negative points of this new option are this semi-automatic translation (which is fully automatic with Weglot) and the fact that it is not accessible to people who only have editor access to the site(see our free training on access levels in Webflow).

The free alternative
You may decide to save costs by duplicating your pages and storing them yourself in specific folders /en, /es, /fr, etc.
This option is not available if you have and use CMS template pages, and should be avoided on large sites (with more than 10 pages).
However, with development by a Webflow expert and proper use of Webflow components, it can be quite viable and easy to maintain over time π
β
Account and user management
If you'd like to add user accounts to your site, to enable your visitors to log in and have a personalized experience, based on personal data (gender, age, interests, etc.) or subscriptions or products they've purchased (to make a training platform, for example) then I recommend the Memberstack v2 solution, which is very powerful and can be strongly integrated into Webflow.
You can easily hide or show elements of your site based on this information when the user is logged in, and also if they're not logged in π
Be careful, however, about securing your sensitive data (see our next article: why memberstack CAN'T protect your data) if you have visitors who like to "tinker" and poke around sites, as they'll then be able to access your content.
You'll need to budget at least an extra $25 per month here, and transaction fees if you want to sell paid products. There will also be a potential aurpsè commission from Stripe, which handles the payment side of Memberstack.

The free alternative
Webflow offers password-protected pages. Each page has its own password, which is shared by all visitors, but which can be used to hide content from certain users.
Page protection is robust, and even if JavaScript is blocked, users won't be able to retrieve the content of the protected page, but the uniqueness of the password isn't very secure, so be careful not to put too much confidential data on it.

Summary
Here is a small table to summarize the different prices you could get every month (or year, if you choose annual commitments) for your Webflow site once its development is complete.
